On Saturday, June 12th, AMHA partnered with Fred Rogers, PBS Western Reserve and PNC’s Grow Up Great to host “Be a Caring Neighbor Day” featuring Daniel the Tiger!  Twenty community partners participated in the event by distributing resources to the roughly 100 attendees.  Staff reported several highlights from the event, one of which was the community mural created with the Akron Art Museum and now displayed at the Reach Opportunity Center’s STEAM Lab at Summit Lake.  Other highlights from the event included the participation of 69 families in the music activity hosted at the Reach Opportunity Center’s station.  Reach Manager, Greg Guarneri, spent the day teaching musical skills to kids and singing with them. When asked about his experience Greg said, “The Daniel Tiger event really activated Summit Lake.  Children were running, playing with hula hoops, painting, playing music and visiting with their favorite character.  It was a great day and I was glad to be a part of it.”  The hard work of AMHA staff and community partners allowed this event to go off without a hitch and fostered positive relationships with Summit County residents.  At AMHA, our vision is to support a community that fosters individual development and growth through stable and affordable housing, empowering all to reach their full potential. We believe this event contributed to building a better community and providing opportunities for all to reach their full potential.
